What is Oil Pulling- Its advantages

Oil pulling is an ancient oral Kriya or activity that Ayurvedic teachings advocate as an important element of daily health rituals or Dinacharya.

There are two sorts of oil pulling processes. Gandusha involves putting a big amount of oil in the mouth and holding it there for around 10-15 minutes, while Kavala involves putting a lesser amount of oil in the mouth, swishing it around briskly inside the oral cavity, and spitting it out after 2 to 3 minutes.

Oil pulling has been shown in studies to eliminate bacteria in the mouth and enhance dental health. It is also claimed by some alternative medicine practitioners that it can aid in the treatment of a variety of ailments (1Trusted Source).

While the exact mechanism of oil pulling is unknown, it is said to “draw” bacteria from the mouth.

However, there is little study on oil pulling, and opinions differ on how effective it is.

This article examines some of the science-backed benefits of oil pulling, as well as how to do it to get the most out of it.

Could Aid in the Treatment of Bad Breath

Bad breath, often known as halitosis, is a disorder that affects about half of the population.

Bad breath can be caused by a variety of factors.

Infection, gum disease, poor oral hygiene, and tongue coating, which occurs when bacteria become stuck on the tongue, are just a few of the most frequent.

Cavities Can Be Prevented

Cavities are a common complication of dental decay.

Tooth decay is caused by poor dental hygiene, excessive sugar consumption, and bacterial accumulation, which results in the production of cavities in the teeth.

Reduces Inflammation and Promotes Gum Health

Gingivitis is a form of gum disease characterised by red, swollen, and readily bleeding gums.

Gingivitis is caused by bacteria contained in plaque, which can cause bleeding and inflammation in the gums. Oil pulling, on the other hand, may be an effective way to promote gum health and reduce inflammation.

Other Advantages Could Exist

Although proponents of oil pulling believe that it can help with a range of additional ailments not mentioned above, research on the subject is scarce.

Oil pulling’s anti-inflammatory properties, on the other hand, may be therapeutic for certain inflammatory diseases.

While no studies have looked into the usefulness of oil pulling for these illnesses, considering its ability to reduce inflammation, it could be a possibility.

We hope it helps!
