According to Ayurveda, oiling your hair incorrectly can cause more harm than benefit. To accelerate hair development and improve the quality of your hair, you should oil it properly.
The following are some of the other advantages of applying an Ayurvedic oil to your scalp and hair, in addition to keeping a good dosha balance:
A. Strengthens your hair roots, which promotes new hair development.
B. Adds vitamins and minerals to your hair shaft, nourishing it.
C. Deep conditioning your hair and imparting a silky texture helps to control frizz and dryness.
D. Protects your hair from harsh environmental circumstances including the sun’s UV rays.
E. Improves blood circulation in the head region, which lowers stress and promotes restful sleep.
F. Premature greying, scalp acne, dandruff, itchy scalp, irritation, and other hair concerns can be resolved with Ayurvedic oils containing dosha-specific herbs.
How Do You Apply Oil To Your Hair According To Ayurveda?
Here’s a step-by-step approach to oiling your hair properly, as prescribed by ancient Ayurvedic texts:
1st step:
In a small bowl, heat a few spoons of hair oil (enough for your hair volume and length) on a low flame. Do not overheat the oil; it should only be warm.
Step two:
The hair on the top of your head should be parted in the middle.
3rd step:
Now, on your head, locate the ‘crown chakra,’ which is eight fingers above the center of your brows.
4th Step:
Apply some oil to the head chakra and gently tap it eight times with your palm.
5th Step:
Slowly rub the oil into your crown chakra point with your palm.
6th step:
Then, on your head, find the apex point, which is four fingers behind the crown chakra point.
7th step:
Massage your apex chakra point with warm oil in the same way you treated your crown chakra point.
Step No. 8:
Apply the oil to your entire head and evenly distribute it with your fingertips.
9th step:
Begin massaging your scalp from the apex point, stroking down the middle line on either side of the apex point.
Step ten:
Begin massaging in the opposite direction, starting at the middle of your sides and working your way to the apex point.
11th step:
Using your finger pads, gently massage your scalp throughout the front, back, and sidelines around the apex point in circular strokes.
12th Step:
For the second time, massage your crown chakra.
13th Step:
Finally, massage the remaining oil into your hair shaft in a slow, soft motion. Use your fingers to detangle your hair.
The entire treatment could take up to 10-15 minutes.
So go oil your hair!
