Have you ever wondered how to make homemade lemonade?
Perfect lemonade every time with this simple and quick procedure! With fresh lemon juice and simple syrup.
The issue is that if you just combine all of these ingredients, the sugar will sink to the bottom. So, the ideal technique to prepare lemonade is to first make a simple syrup by heating water and sugar until the sugar is completely dissolved, then adding the lemon juice.
The ratios will vary based on how sweet and strong you want your lemonade to be, as well as how sour your lemons are to begin with. Lemons in the late season are less sour than those in the early season. Meyer lemons have a sweeter flavour than regular lemons.
To begin, combine 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of water, and 1 cup of lemon juice in a mixing bowl. If you’re using Meyer lemons or like a less sweet lemonade, cut back on the sugar. (I use 3/4 cup sugar most of the time.)
Make the simple syrup, blend it with the lemon juice, and then dilute the lemonade to your liking with extra water (and ice).
Simple syrup that can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for later use. You can juice a bunch of lemons and freeze the juice if you have a bunch of lemons to prepare.
Grate the zest from one fresh lemon and add it to the simple syrup as you’re cooking it for a stronger lemon taste. Remove the pan from the heat once the sugar has dissolved in the water, and let the zest soak in the simple syrup for a few minutes before straining out the zest before adding the simple syrup to the lemon juice.
Happy Summers!
